Villa K - 5 Clubs & Activities

Our clubs and activities allow our K-5 students to interact with older and younger students in a casual environment. Together they explore new interests and develop their skills.

Villa faculty and outside experts team up to offer programs that:

  • build academic  and life skills
  • encourage creativity and confidence
  • strengthen social and emotional skills

Below are a sampling of clubs and activities Villa has offered. Offerings may change from year to year and not all clubs and activities are offered each trimester.

Beginning Band
Grade 4

Intended for students with no experience on a band instrument. Performance opportunities will be limited to allow for maximum development of music skills.

Concert Band
Grades 3 - 8

Intended for students with 1+ years of experience on a band instrument. Performance opportunities will be balanced with the development of music skills.

Liturgical Choir
Grades 5 - 8

For students who love to sing or want to learn how to play handbells. Our Liturgical Choir performs at school masses as well as several times a year at special events and nearby St. Bridget Church.

Wind Ensemble
Grades 3 - 8

Intended for highly motivated students with 2+ years of experience on a band instrument. Placement in Wind Ensemble is limited and based on audition.

Villa Violins
Grades 4 - 8

Students play different styles of music, while mastering technique, and fundamentals. Students hold performances throughout the school year.

Open to players at all levels: brand new, developing, and experienced.  We tailor the instruction to your needs.

Chess4Life focuses on:

  • positively encouraging students at all levels
  • developing sportsmanship

Grades K - 2: Fall Drama

The Villa Youth Theater is the perfect place for young thespians in grades K - 2 to develop their skills.

Rehearsals begin in September, with performances in January.

Students may audition for a lead role or be a part of the ensemble or stage crew.

Grades 3 - 8: Winter/Spring Drama

For students in grades 3 - 8, the Villa Youth Theater is an excellent place to act, sing, or be part of a show.

Our spring musical is a favorite community event. Rehearsals begin in February, with performances in May.

Students may audition for a lead role or be a part of the ensemble or stage crew.

Ages 5 - 11

Robotics 1

In this introduction class, students use robotics to explore the fundamentals of engineering and electronics. They use the design process to solve problems and work hands-on in groups to design and build their own robots.

Robotics 2

In Robotics 2, students continue to use robotics to explore the fundamentals of engineering and electronics. They continue to master the design process to solve problems and build on basic skills in circuits, simple machines, and simple robots.

Grades 2 - 5

Students work with Villa faculty in our school gardens and greenhouse. They learn how to plant seeds, transplant seedlings, prepare beds, grow vegetables in a greenhouse, and much more!

Creative Coding
Grades 3 - 8

Beginner students participate in the Creative Coding core curriculum, learning the fundamental elements of coding using MIT’s Scratch to create their very own computer game! Advanced coders (students with previous Scratch experience) are challenged each week with a unique mix of coding techniques and hacks. Classes are designed to be repeated as many times as desired. Each time, kids increase their coding skills, speed, and proficiency.

Tinker and Code
Grades 2 - 6

Using critical thinking, students tinker and program with a multitude of systems including LEGO® MINDSTORMS EV3, Cubelets, SAM Labs, Moss, and Tinkerkit. This project-based course encourages students to think differently while experimenting with new and diverse technologies. Students physically piece together logic with modular building blocks, construct contraptions using 3D-printed wheels and propellers, build circuits, and integrate creations into the world around them.


Explore Art
Grades K - 5

Students learn fundamental drawing and painting concepts as they build confidence in their skills and their ability to make their own artistic decisions.

Children are encouraged to develop their skills through exploration with markers, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, chalk, glitter and more. Students draw fun and familiar subjects like animals, landscapes, people, master artworks, and vehicles.

Grades 4 - 8

The Villa Times newspaper staff is the perfect place for students who enjoy writing, art, or design.

Students learn how to:

  • plan, design, and organize newspaper issues
  • write news and feature stories
  • illustrate and edit stories
  • publish/sell a newspaper
  • mentor as they assist younger reporters with writing, typing and editing.

Ages 5 - 12

Students learn basic cheerleading skills and techniques from expert instructors.
