Map of Villa Campus

Outdoor Education

Our 31-acre campus is unlike that of any other school in Seattle. Our diverse landscape includes grassy areas, a multi-purpose playfield, the school garden, orchards, deciduous and mixed forest areas, a wetland seep, riparian forest area bordering on Lake Washington, and waterfront access.

A Closer Look

Our K - 5 classes use our campus to explore, learn, reflect, and more. For example:

  • In the spring, Kindergartners join their 8th grade buddies on our waterfront to release salmon spawn into Lake Washington
  • Kindergartners adopt and plant a tree on the grounds
  • First graders examine insects in water samples taken from Lake Washington
  • Third graders care for the greenhouse and school garden as part of their service learning program
  • Third, fourth and fifth graders build and maintain forts in our orchard during Orchard Recess
  • Fourth graders investigate how we impact the environment of our campus
  • Fifth graders participate in our state-recognized Green Team program
