How We Do Physical Education

Our Middle School Physical Education program follows the National Standards for Physical Education to match the developmental levels of the 11-14 year old learner. Students participate in PE for the whole year.

Fitness is a Necessary Element for Healthy Living

The curriculum includes a balance of skills and concepts in the areas of games, team sports, and fitness activities. Through active participation and a variety of activities, the goal of the program is to promote fitness and fun. We have high expectations for the young adolescent’s psychomotor, cognitive, and affective learning.

Students actively engage in Frisbee games, yoga, volleyball, soccer, basketball, floor hockey, softball, and rope jumping. Villa’s gym boasts a climbing wall that affords the students opportunity to develop balance, strength and body control. Whenever possible, our PE classes use our 31-acre campus, multi-purpose play field, and indoor climbing wall.

Throughout all PE activities, we emphasize:

  • sportsmanship
  • self-improvement
  • individual growth
  • teamwork

Special events in our PE program include the Annual 8th Grade vs. Faculty Basketball Game and the French vs. Spanish Soccer Game.
