How We Do World Languages

Our Middle School World Language program offers students either French or Spanish as their language of choice during their three years in the program.

After completing three years of Middle School French or Spanish at Villa, students have a strong foundation for superior levels of language proficiency, and are ready to be successful in 2nd or 3rd year high school French or Spanish.

The Natural, Interactive Approach

Following the National Foreign Language Standards, our program promotes the natural approach, where students learn French and Spanish in thematic contexts while doing meaningful, related activities.

Our program is communication based and designed to build proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We focus on introducing students to the culture, history, geography, and customs of French- and Spanish-speaking countries.

Classes are interactive and hands-on with plentiful opportunities for speaking, writing, and reading, including skits, story-telling, creative writing, cultural projects, songs, poetry, cooking, etc.
