Preschool Community Service

Villa preschool students reach out to other children in need by supporting First Place School, Children’s Hospital, and a young child in Central America as the Preschool Community Service focus. These young children in need are also remembered in student prayers and intentions each day.

The Mitten Tree

As part of our preschool holiday celebrations, preschool families create a Mitten Tree of warm items for the students at First Place School. First Place is a nonprofit organization in Seattle's Central District that provides educational and support services to children and families. Our preschoolers discuss the meaning of the season of Advent (sharing, giving, waiting) and the phrase "the joy of giving."

Last year, Villa preschoolers collected 24 sets of hats and gloves, 27 pairs of mittens, 51 hats, 49 pairs of socks, 2 scarves, 19 pairs gloves, and 21 gift cards $20-$25 each.

Valentines for Children's Hospital

In February each year, P4 and P5 students work with their upper school buddies to create a beautiful hand made Valentine Garland to hang at Seattle Children's Hospital. The students hope the heartfelt messages cheer up children who might not get to have a special Valentine’s Day party.
