Since 1977, Villa Academy has been governed by an independent, lay board of trustees, comprised of community and business leaders, alumni, and parents of current and former students. The board is responsible for establishing a clear mission for the school, setting policies and plans consistent with the mission, and assuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Villa Academy is established as a nonprofit corporation in the State of Washington and is accredited by the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS) and the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS).
