MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8)

Villa Academy’s preschool through 8th grade structure provides a unique benefit to our Middle School students. At

a time when building confidence is more important than ever, they enjoy the empowering position of being the eldest in our community. As school leaders, Villa Middle School students head up the student council. They are the chess champions, basketball stars, and leads in dramatic productions. What’s more, they take seriously their position as role models for our younger students.

As a reflection of their leadership status, Middle School students move up to the top two floors of the building. Here they transition to the high school model of different teachers for different subjects. Students take on additional responsibility for their learning, understanding that a stepped-up effort and more intense focus is required as they prepare for placement in a college prep high school program. Core curricular classes in the humanities (literature, language arts, social studies, religion), mathematics, science, and international languages (Spanish or French) are complemented by art, music, and physical education. To support the learning process, students work with their own laptop computers.

Teachers know their students as individual learners, giving them the support they need to succeed in this challenging program. With Villa Academy’s excellent academic foundation, students are prepared to take full advantage of rigorous high school programs — Catholic, independent or public. Our graduates distinguish themselves both as scholars and as dynamic members of their chosen school communities.

Villa Academy also offers many opportunities for middle school students to complement their academics with enrichment programs in the arts, athletics, clubs, and more. And, MidWay, the school’s before- and after-school care program for middle school students, provides opportunities for further creative and academic exploration, community service projects, quiet study time, and much-needed time with friends.
