A Student Council Officer is a
leader who:

Follows and supports school rules
Shows respect for self and others
Demonstrates responsibility
Speaks up on behalf of his or her class
Models good behavior
Is punctual and organized
Maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA
Is not placed on academic or social probation
Participates in all Student Council activities
Performs the specific duties of his or her office
Attends Student Council meetings regularly
Promotes Student Council activities
Acts as a good steward for Villa Academy

Eligibility Requirements
President
Student must be in 8th grade.
Student must prepare agendas for meetings.

Vice President

Student must be in 8th grade.
Student must directly assist the president.
Student must assume leadership in president’s absence.

Treasurer
Student must be in 7th or 8th grade.
Student must organize and keep accurate records of treasury funds.
Student must assist in fundraisers.

Commissioner of School Spirit

Student must be in 7th or 8th grade.
Student must help to organize Spirit Days, Talent Shows, and other school spirit activities.
Student must prepare Monday morning sports reports.

Secretary
Student must be in 7th or 8th grade.
Student must assist President in setting meeting
agendas.
Student must keep minutes at all meetings.
Student must provide all officers and moderator
with copies of minutes.

Commissioner of Spiritual Affairs
Student need not be Catholic but must uphold
and demonstrate the Principles of Catholic
Social Teaching summarized as follows:
1. Life and dignity of the human person
2. Call to family, community, and participation
3. Rights and responsibilities
4. Preferential option for the poor and
vulnerable
5. Dignity of work and the rights of workers
6. Solidarity
7. Care for God’s creation
Student must be in 7th or 8th grade.
Student must prepare Monday morning prayers.
Student must prepare prayers for special
activities.
