Chess
Students grades Kindergarten through eight can join Villa’s Chess Club -- no matter their skill level. Chess Club meets after school from October through April, and dues are used to hire chess instructors through Chess 4 Life. Instructors lead club meetings together with parent volunteers. Meetings include short presentations, demonstrations, chess exercises, and ample opportunities to play chess. Members may choose to participate in inter-scholastic chess tournaments.

Middle School Math
Villa's Middle School Math Club meets after school one afternoon per week. Members learn and practice problem-

solving techniques and prepare for math competitions. In addition, the Math Club goes on field trips to learn various ways in which math is applied in the real world. The Math Club participates in various regional and state problem-solving competitions. Villa's Math Club secured significant placement in every competition entered this past year.

Knitting
The Villa Academy Knitting Kninnies are a group of fourth and fifth-grade students who meet weekly during lunch recess to relax, converse, and knit. No prior knitting experience is needed to join the group, which is led by

the school’s Academic Programs Assistant. In addition to learning how to knit within a warm and friendly group atmosphere, club members work together on community service projects such as knitting warm headbands to donate to local homeless shelters.

Writing
With an emphasis on creative fiction, the Writing Club meets weekly to encourage students in their creative explorations. Members work with Villa Academy faculty members to improve their ability to describe scenes, create characters in conflict, use personal experience to create story lines, and write poetry. The Writing Club is available to students in grades 4-8.

Middle School Ski & Snowboard Bus

Each ski season, middle school students are invited to join the Middle School Ski & Snowboard bus for Friday evening chaperoned trips to the Summit at Snoqualmie. Participation includes six weeks of instruction, as well as free time for skiing or snowboarding, along with invaluable time spent with friends.

Lessons are offered through WebbSki Ski & Snowboard School.  All skill levels are welcome and no experience is necessary!

Student Government

classroom in Grades 4-8 elects class representatives

to the Student Council.
