Library
The mission of the Villa Academy Library program is to ensure all members of our learning community have the resources and knowledge to become life-long learners and effective users of ideas and information.
Serving preschool, lower school, and middle school students, the Villa Academy Library houses more than 8,000 print volumes, a variety of electronic resources and includes comfortable light filled spaces designed to provide for whole class instruction, individual study, quiet reading, storytelling, and small groups.
The library is staffed with a full time teacher librarian and full time library assistant.
The Library Curriculum
The library curriculum provides learning opportunities for students to develop skills in the following areas:
Information literacy and the
research process
Students practice information literacy skills that enable them to gain meaning from information.
Literature appreciation and
reading for understanding
Students develop skills and strategies to better understand the message of a story and/or information.
Library responsibilities
Students develop skills and strategies to help them better use the resources of the library effectively.
