Middle School Spanish Teacher
Middle School Spanish Teacher Opportunity Statement

Villa Academy seeks a full-time Middle School Spanish Teacher to join its team beginning August 19, 2025. This educator will be teaching our Spanish curriculum to students in grades Fifth through Eighth. This role will engage students in using language not only for self-expression and communication, but also for providing insight into the social patterns, value systems, traditions, and attitudes of Spanish-speaking people throughout the world.
This is a ten-month, salaried-exempt position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Director of Middle School.
The ideal candidate is a passionate and experienced Spanish educator who thrives in a Middle School environment and understands the developmental needs of young learners. They are skilled in language instruction, inquiry-based learning, and integrating technology and hands-on activities to enhance engagement. A collaborative team player, they build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom community.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach multiple sections of Middle School Spanish and one section of Middle School Advisory, to students in grades Fifth through Eighth.
- Plan and implement inquiry-based lesson plans that align with Villa Academy Spanish curriculum standards.
- Cultivate a classroom community amongst a small, grade-specific advisory group utilizing Villa’s social-emotional learning curriculum.
- Work closely with the rest of the Spanish team to support students' development and ensure they are well-prepared for success in Spanish 2 in high school (ACTFL Intermediate-Low.)
- Effectively partner and communicate with families, colleagues, and administration to appropriately challenge and support students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve instructional strategies.
- Integrate technology and hands-on activities to enhance learning experiences.
- Regularly assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance.
- Participate in faculty/staff, grade level, and division meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field; Master’s degree and/or teaching credential preferred.
- 2+ years of Spanish teaching experience, preferably with Middle School students.
- Knowledge of proficiency-based language acquisition models.
- In-depth understanding of, and experience with, inquiry-based learning in education settings.
- Passion for working with Middle School students, with a deep understanding of their developmental needs and learning styles.
- Proven ability to implement effective classroom support strategies and foster positive relationships with young learners.
- Experience with and appreciation for purposeful play, as well as a solid foundation in interdisciplinary, STEAM-focused, and project-based learning.

Substitute Teacher

Villa Academy seeks a Substitute Teacher to be on-call as needed through the academic year. Our substitute teachers are scheduled ahead of time or called in to cover classroom responsibilities when a teacher is out. Substitutes may cover a variety of classes.

Villa Academy seeks a long-term substitute for one of our Kindergarten Teachers to join its team beginning April 28, 2025 and concluding June 13, 2025. There is also an opportunity for this position to return for Fall 2025. The Kindergarten Teacher leads and guides one of three dedicated Kindergarten classrooms at Villa, supporting whole-child student education as they navigate our inquiry-based curriculum. Energized by the opportunities of outdoor, experiential education, this classroom teacher role will enjoy access to our multi-acre outdoor space with wooded trails, a garden, an outdoor learning pavilion and a greenhouse. This is a temporary, long-term substitute position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Director of Lower School.
