Due to the continued unhealthy air quality in Seattle, Villa Academy's campus will be closed to all students through Friday, September 18, 2020.
There will be no preschool classes on campus and the supervised on-line instruction for students through the EDP program will not meet on campus.

On-line instruction will take place as previously planned and faculty/staff members will be allowed to use their Villa Academy classroom, if necessary, to provide on-line instruction.

Math: Success at All Levels

Villa’s Middle School math program prepares students for grade level, advanced, and honors classes in high school. They have the ability to complete geometry 1 by the end of 8th grade, a year ahead of their peers. The good news is that our approach to math is highly responsive to individual student needs. Beginning in 6th grade, students are grouped based on a variety of data, including:

  • Formative and summative assessments
  • Teacher recommendations
  • Each student's mathematics background and comfort/confidence level

Flexibility is key to our math program. Unlike high school, our students are not “stuck” in a particular level and can move between and among different math groups as they develop, while faculty collaborate to monitor and encourage student progress.

Math Flow

From a high school freshman to her Villa math teacher:

I just wanted to let you know that today was the first day of math class and it went great! There was only one other freshman besides me. I had looked through the math packet you provided for us at the beginning of the summer and that helped a lot. I just wanted to thank you so much for pushing me in math at Villa because it paid off!
