Due to the continued unhealthy air quality in Seattle, Villa Academy's campus will be closed to all students through Friday, September 18, 2020.
There will be no preschool classes on campus and the supervised on-line instruction for students through the EDP program will not meet on campus.

On-line instruction will take place as previously planned and faculty/staff members will be allowed to use their Villa Academy classroom, if necessary, to provide on-line instruction.

The Language of Music

Music education is about more than just playing an instrument. We challenge children to use the creative side of their brains while, at the same time, learning a foreign language—music. Research clearly indicates that students involved in music education academically outperform their non-musical counterparts.

From Appreciation to Performance

From Preschool through Middle School we expose students to a range of musical experiences to develop the foundation for a lifetime of music appreciation, a working knowledge of music in performance, and theory skills to aid in the understanding of musical structure.

In addition to regular music classes year round, we have a robust culture of performance, where students from 4th through 8th grades can participate in the following:

Developing Musical Literacy, Students:

  • Learn to use their voices through echo, call and response, and action songs
  • Play Orff-based percussion instruments creating rhythmic beats, poems, and songs
  • Progress from prenotation to reading music playing recorder, ukulele, and guitar
  • Explore music from world cultures, along with music history, theory, and genres
