Admissions FAQ

We ask that families who are interested in Villa please contact the admission office and apply. You will be considered in our second round of decisions. We also encourage you to apply for financial aid if it is needed.

Please contact the Admissions Office at 206.527.9388 or via email for more information.

At Villa, we accept many different learning styles. We believe that this greatly enriches the classroom experience. We also believe a variety of learning styles provides a diverse community that represents the real world around us.

At Villa, we teach children to believe in their gifts, become advocates for their own learning, and see the gifts in others. We believe that having a spectrum of learners provides the opportunity for problem solving, acceptance, and thoughtfulness.

Upon filling our current openings, a Wait Pool is established for qualified applicants. If openings occur, our Admissions Committee will review Wait Pool applicants and offer admission to the most appropriate ones.

Most openings occur within a few weeks of admission notification in March. However, there are sometimes openings at the end of the school year or during the summer.

Villa Academy does not require an IQ test. We believe that the spectrum of human cognitive ability is complex.

With our careful in-house evaluation of applicants as described above, we are confident in admitting students who are the best fit for a Villa education.

Each financial aid application is unique. Please call Heidi Goldsmith at 206-527-9388 for a confidential conversation. Find more information about the financial aid application process.

Most of our financial aid families make less than $150,000, yet there are always special circumstances that we do take into consideration.

Villa Academy follows the Washington State age cut-off for kindergarten.

  • Our Kindergarten class – must be age 5 by August 31st
  • Our P5 preschool class for five year olds – must be age 5 by December 31st
  • Our P4 preschool class for four year olds – must be age 4 by August 31st
  • Our P3 preschool class for three year olds – must be age 3 by August 31st

We accept a variety of different learning styles.

Your child will thrive in our academic environment where our teachers get to know your child’s learning style intimately as they constantly assess each child's learning needs.

We understand that gifted kids can be exceptionally curious and may require more depth than other learners.

At Villa, your child will have academic peers, and also gain the social/emotional growth inherent in interacting with a variety of fellow students—each with their own gifts.

We do not require an IQ test. If you do have results from any academic testing (including IQ testing), please upload them to Ravenna as part of your application.

The word "family" means many different things at Villa. We are always happy to connect you to a family who may resemble yours so that they may share their Villa experience with you.

Villa Academy welcomes families from all faith traditions. Half of our families are Catholic, but all share a belief in human kindness, a commitment to community service, and a true love of learning.

Our primary entry points are preschool, kindergarten, and sixth grade. There are limited spaces available in other grades and we encourage inquiries about openings for specific grades at any time.

Please contact the Admissions Office at 206.527.9388 or via email for more information.

We are looking for students who are excited about learning—even when the curriculum is rigorous!

Students who want to work hard, are ready for a challenge, and are curious about the world around them do best at Villa.

Our students are people of character who care about how they relate to their classmates, teachers, and the larger community.

Finally, we want students who can carry out our mission of social justice.
