Lower School Routines & Procedures Update
January - June 2021
Arrival and Dismissal from School
-
Student drop off and pick up is staggered so that we can reduce the number of students waiting for their carpool or entering the building at
the same time.
-
It is very important that families arrive at school during their designated time frame. Please follow these
guidelines for student drop off and pick up.
As outlined in these procedures, all families must complete the Daily
Health Screening for each child each day.
-
As additional grade levels are on campus, the drop off/pick up zone will change. Please use THIS
MAP to see where students drop off.
-
Each day, students will enter and exit the building using the interior stairwell that is on the same side of the building as their
classroom. Students entering the building through the west entrance will walk to the north or south stairwell to proceed to their classroom.
See the drop off guidelines linked above for additional information.
Absence From School
-
Any time that your child will be absent from school for a day or more, all families are asked to complete a Leave
of Absence form even if your child will participate in school remotely.
-
The form is also used to help us know which children are in the building on a given day in the event of an emergency.
-
Families who chose to travel out of state are expected to follow Washington state and Villa guidelines for quarantine after arriving
back in the state. These guidelines are outlined/updated on Villa’s school
re-opening webpage.
Hallways, Recess, Bathrooms & Lunch
-
As previously shared, all hallways and staircases are directionally marked and divided. Students are expected to use the appropriate side of
the hallway and stay distanced from others.
-
Bathroom sinks are used every morning and after recess for handwashing. Students take turns using these sinks and when available use
classroom sinks for hygiene.
-
Each homeroom will stagger their entrance and exit times to and from recess.
-
The main playground has been divided into three play areas and each homeroom cohort will be assigned either a main playground, lower
playground or soccer field location for recess. Locations rotate each week and cohorts do not mix together during recess.
-
Recess will be held in all types of weather. Rainy day recess will be a rare occurrence. Students should have waterproof coats and sturdy
shoes/rain boots at school each day. Rain pants are strongly recommended. HERE are some suggestions for outdoor attire.
-
Students will eat lunch in their classrooms each day.
-
Students are expected to bring a nut free snack and lunch to school every day. Food service is not available.
-
During eating, students will listen to an audiobook or teacher selected music or watch an educational video. This activity allows students
to eat quietly. When students leave their desks to clean up, ask questions during lunch or need help, they will put their masks back on.
Masks, Ventilation and Classroom Hygiene
-
All Villa students aged five and older are required to wear masks while on Villa’s campus.
-
All adults on campus at Villa are required to wear masks both inside the building and on school grounds.
-
Students should arrive at school wearing their mask and are expected to have a back up mask every day.
-
Extra child and adult sized masks are available in classrooms for emergency use
.
-
Classroom windows will be open throughout the school day. Students should wear their uniforms every day and may wear warm, dry coats over
their school uniform during the school day. See THIS graphic
about uniforms.
-
Students will have access to sanitizing wipes for hands and desk surfaces and all classrooms and bathrooms will be disinfected at midday and
during evening cleaning.
-
In addition to our hand washing protocols, every classroom is equipped with touchless hand sanitizer units that will be used by students and
adults throughout the school day.
