Preschool - 8th Grade

National studies have shown, and our own experience confirms, that the developmental continuity provided in a Preschool - 8 school provides significant advantages.

By the time Villa students complete middle school, they have benefited from nine to twelve years of the consistent academic and social/emotional preparation that are so important for high school success. Part of that success also comes from Villa's warm, caring community and the valued partnership we have with our parents who are with us every step of the way.

Villa Open House

Academic Achievement

  • Students perform better on standardized tests and display higher GPA's in 9th grade.
  • Faculty know when to challenge students based on their histories.
  • By 8th grade students have become more aware of themselves as learners and better able to help select the right match for high school.
  • Higher participation in extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and outside interests.

Intimate Community with Continuity of Expectations

  • Students are truly known by faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Faculty collaborate across grade levels to better understand each student’s history, strengths, learning style, and family dynamic.
  • K-8 Middle schoolers are less victimized or bullied than in alternate school settings.
  • Students feel safe taking risks and challenging themselves.
  • Parents are more involved and participate more frequently in class and schoolwide events.

Leadership Opportunities

  • Students take on the role of “protector and role model".
  • As leaders of the school, Middle School students are "top dogs" rather than "underdogs".
  • Peer mentoring in classrooms, buddy program with younger students, sports teams, and clubs encourages empathy, compassion, and collaboration.

Social/Emotional Development

  • Higher self-esteem, confidence, and emotional stability.
  • Long lasting peer friendships and relationships with non-parent adults.
